Cycles - The Transition to Spring

Cycles - The Transition to Spring

It’s easy as a driven human being to get attached to this idea of linear movement. If we aren’t moving forward and leaving things behind then we aren’t actually making progress. However, if we look at nature, we see that flora and fauna actually move in regenerative cycles that generate progress (or evolution). As a part of nature, it’s easy to deduce that we must also move in cycles.

Every year when spring takes hold I feel the cycles more potently. There is something about the astrological new year, the stark comparison between Piceses and Aries that brings this knowledge into full clarity.

Over the past week, you might have noticed old energy ending and new energy budding. This can look like an old situation coming back again to be handled and seen differently.

For me, this cycle has unearthed a ruling pattern in how I show up in difficult conversations. As a kid, I did not know how to handle difficult conversations with people I loved, so I learned to not say anything until it all began to bubble over. Then with the bubbling over, the conversation gets lost by an overwhelm of unresolved emotions and effectively shuts down any productive or healthy conversation. Ding, ding, ding - I’ve avoided the difficult conversation again. This is a cycle that’s been ruling my interactions and has been brought to light in the transition from winter to spring. Although (this time) I might not have handled it in a new way. The transition to spring allowed me to actually see what was causing the pattern.

The old energy and new energy could also look like finally uprooting an old rooted pattern, that we have had difficulty letting go.

For my best friend, she’s been up against a long (long) pattern in relationships and her awareness of the cause of the pattern started back in January. As we transitioned to spring, she began to take action and have hope again. It’s amazing to watch her navigate this cycle with such faith and confidence.

As we move into spring and new energy, I invite you to be curious about what cycles might be yearning to be noticed in your life. I invite you to honor the patterns that arise and seek to see them from a new perspective. I encourage you to let go of the linear progress we are taught to follow and allow the cycles of our life some room to breathe. In doing so, you and I might find that our cycles have the ability to really bring us what we want and need.

Happy Spring.
